ANY MOTHER WOULD

Written and Directed by Matt Harper-Hardcastle

Produced by Next Door But One

A new one act play celebrating those 'normal' but extraordinary women that keep us going.

"They’re all over the world; women that move molehills rather than mountains."

When the family are all back under one roof anything can happen. Frances Towers is confronted by her son’s guilt, her daughter’s shortcomings, and her husband’s gallant return from the pub. Whether in tears, arguments or in drunken reminiscence they all find their way of telling her how much she is loved. An autobiographical celebration of motherhood in its magical ordinariness; exploring themes of family, disability, failing, succeeding, coming out and coming home.

Semi autobiographic and infused with stories shared with NDB1 over the years, Any Mother Would does not aim to revolutionise or reimagine family dynamics, but rather give time and importance to the forgotten or overlooked stories that create the tapestry of who we are. Any Mother Would promises to be an amusing, relatable and heartwarming experience which sends you off home to tell your own stories.
