A Rehearsal For Life

A Rehearsal For Life is our Forum Theatre programme for learning disabled teenagers and adults, co-produced with The Snappy Trust and Camphill Village Trust

Based on real-life experiences, participants are presented with challenging scenarios which they are asked to improve or give advice on; stepping into the drama themselves to practice those interactions, with the aim of embedding that learning in their own daily experiences. These scenarios explore feelings of fear, anxiety, safety and practically work through communication tools, the development of personal resilience, knowledge of who to talk to, and how to seek further support.

Feedback includes:

  • ‘Thank you for bringing these important ideas to us, it's like therapy for me because I get to look at these things that have happened to me and get help figuring it out.’
  • ‘It makes me feel happy and chilled’
  • ‘I feel better after an NDB1 workshop’
  • ‘I feel more better doing it. We get to work on things and then that becomes less mixed up in our heads’
  • ‘I get to share my opinions with others’
  • ‘It feels to me that it helps my heart and I feel less stress so I can be happy and jolly’

What our Forum Theatre Workshops Look and Feel Life

We also have an online package of A Rehearsal For Life which contains 5 films, supported by a workbook that explore themes of relationships, boundaries, mate-crime, traveling safely and understanding public and private information. Please get in touch if you would like to gain access to this for yourself, your family, group or setting, or if you'd like to discuss booking the live delivery of these workshops by a team of professional facilitators and actors.
